A Soothing Art

Just the other day I was trying to articulate to a friend how I felt about cooking from scratch - how much I adored taking the time for the myriad of steps that eventually turns into something soothing & comforting to eat. It's an art form unto itself & a nice release at the end of a busy week. Just last weekend I spent over four hours making a complicated French soup - and this video did a wonderful job of reminding me visually just how it felt. And how long it's been since I've made a loaf of bread - that will be up next! May you find many moments of inner joy throughout 2012.

I'm usually not a fan of wallpaper, but these ultra-realistic rustic textures caught my attention. If you don't have those wonderful textures already in your home, adding a hit or two of faux might just make a wonderful difference - and hold off the need for a major remodeling project.
